Galería de Arte Pilares began in the city of Cuenca in the early nineties, and that is still where it is based today. Because of its roots in Cuenca, it specialises in artists connected with the Museum of Abstract Art, whether from El Paso (Saura, Millares, Feito, Canogar, Viola…), the so-called Cuenca Group (Zóbel, Rueda and Torner), or the many other artists linked to the avant-garde of the second half of the 20th century, from the most established and well known, such as Tàpies or Chillida, to intermediate generations of great artistic quality, such as Bonifacio, Gordillo, Jorge Castillo, José Abad and Enrique Brinkmann.
Its roster of painters and sculptors is rounded off by a generation enjoying an exciting career, artists of the calibre of Javier Pagola, Miguel Ángel Moset, Adrián Moya and Ángel Pintado.
Promoting young artists is one of the main functions of an art gallery: supporting and spreading new aesthetic discourses that renew and enrich the national —and why not international— art scene. That is why our roster also includes painters and sculptors such as Benjamín-Lli, Bibivi, Ángel Belinchón and Pepe Horcajada.
As well as selling art, taking part in fairs and organising solo and group exhibitions, our activities include publishing books and catalogues and producing prints and multiples. One of our most ambitious projects is the PILARES Franchise, which allows entrepreneurs to open an exhibition space or art gallery backed by almost thirty years of experience and several hundred paintings, drawings, sculptures, screenprints and engravings to offer their clients, strengthening each franchisee’s ability to develop their business.
Another distinctive feature of Galería de Arte Pilares, in its commitment to supporting collectors, is offering payment in easy instalments, a client account with generous discounts, and the option of exchanging a purchased work for another one in stock, because we understand that artistic tastes may change, but a passion for art remains.
In addition —and this is rare among Spanish galleries— PILARES buys works of art and also offers exchanges for people who wish to part with some of their collection, or to swap works that for whatever reason have lost their appeal or no longer suit a new home for others that interest them.
We handle the sale of lots and estates, carry out valuations and appraisals, and arrange the authentication of works by painters whose high market value requires a prior valuation for insurance, sale or export, serving private clients as well as insurance companies, banks and investment firms.
Finally, as publishers of prints and art reproductions, the gallery offers companies exclusive print editions for corporate gifts (Christmas, anniversaries, incentives and awards…) as well as artwork for hotels, public buildings and more.
