Paco Conesa
Francisco Jiménez Conesa was born in Madrid in 1956. Influenced by his mother, herself an artist, he grew up in an environment that encouraged creativity and began by studying at the Madrid School of Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts. His artistic journey began with pencil drawings; later, colour took an ever larger place in his compositions, and stains and abstract forms became more present. When he left the city to settle in the countryside and escape its pace, his subjects and palette became more organic and natural.
His work invites the viewer to lose themselves in a whirl of clean, crisp forms, simple in their absolute complexity, and to try to understand a compositional process in which figuration stays on the sidelines to give way entirely to the most heartfelt abstractions.
