Miguel Angel Moset

Miguel Ángel Moset was one of the most important figures in the art of Cuenca in the last decades of the 20th century and the early 21st. A painter, printmaker, screenprinter and poster designer, he followed an essentially self-taught path, deeply connected with the intense artistic tradition that took hold in Cuenca after the founding of the Museum of Spanish Abstract Art.

From his first contacts with art he showed a special interest in abstraction and in the expressive possibilities of printmaking techniques. His output spanned painting, engraving and screenprinting, fields in which he developed his own language and a constant desire to experiment.

He exhibited widely, in many Spanish cities and in international venues in Italy, and his work entered public and private collections. He also took part in leading contemporary art fairs and carried out important publishing and printmaking work, collaborating with writers, artists and creators from different disciplines.

Moset is particularly significant for understanding how Cuenca’s artistic tradition continued beyond the generation that founded the Museum of Abstract Art. His work combines visual research, a printmaker’s sensitivity and a deep connection with the visual culture of his city.
