From Alter to Ego

From Alter to Ego

PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION

This photography exhibition invites you on a very special journey: into each of us, through the eyes of four photographers, with every image marked by different disciplines. It is called De Alter a Ego (From Alter to Ego) and you must not miss it.

“This project brings together four ways of looking under a single philosophy. Four artists who refuse to be pigeonholed in a single discipline and firmly believe that the different languages of art complement each other.” That is how the exhibition De Alter a Ego presents itself, a show bringing together the work of the artists Felipe Granados, José Alberto Puertas, Manuel Fiestas and Sergio Martínez, which can be seen at Galería de Arte Pilares.

“It is a photography exhibition about the search for identity, both personal and artistic. It occupies a single room, where the work of the four artists is integrated into a shared discourse and can be enjoyed both individually and as a whole,” says one of the participants, the photographer Sergio Martínez, a contributor to AD. “We are four artists and former classmates from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Granada. Technically, all four of us are strongly influenced by painting, which is clearly visible in the different techniques each of us uses to approach both disciplines. Painters behind the lens, photographers behind the brush…”

With Felipe Granados and his Nihil novum sub sole (nothing new under the sun), the idea suggested by that broad concept is explored through a being or deity searching for an identity with a human point of reference. Detrás de la sombra (Behind the Shadow), José Alberto Puertas’s project, is a long-standing project carried out over successive visits to the Alhambra through the years, “when my parents took me to the palaces and my imagination ran wild and created stories with their characters in those spaces”.
